Max – a truly inspirational pupil

Over the last week, Marton Primary Academy have been following Max on his journey to be given the title “Inspirational Pupil of The Year”.

On 27th November 2019, Jenna Downing (Olympic champion inline skater) visited Marton to assist Max in creating a presentation which Max would give at the award ceremony at Highfurlong School.

Here’s the details from Sharon Todd , Project Ability Lead, Highfurlong School:

“The Youth Sport Trust Lancashire STEP Camp was hosted by Highfurlong School on Wednesday 4th December. There was a selection of Young Leaders chosen to attend from Schools across Lancashire.

Jenna Downing  (World Champion in-line Skater) was the YST Athlete Mentor who took part and delivered an amazing inspirational session to the students. Justine Moore (Paralympic Wheelchair Fencer and ex Highfurlong Student) was also on hand to show her support.

The students listened to this years Young Inspirational Young Leader (Max) from Marton Primary Academy, who told them about his journey and what had made him so inspirational.

Last year’s Inspirational Young Leader from Highfurlong School was also there to show his support and hand over the role with a Plaque.

A group of Key stage 3 students from Highfurlong school were in attendance  with a selection of other schools across the County and all students enjoyed taking part in some team building sport activity and learned leadership skills. All students had a great time learning about leadership skills, different Sports and Inclusion.”

Max was also presented with the award again on Friday, 6th December 2019 in assembly:
