Following a degree in Primary Education Joanne has taught in both Early Years and Primary settings. She started teaching at Gorton Mount in 2011 and in 2012 she completed a Montessori Diploma which further developed her interest in child development and child centred learning. She has also completed a NASENCO award.
Joanne took on the role of SENCo in 2013 and is currently completing the National Award for Special Educational Needs coordination. Joanne collaboratively works with school staff and families to ensure that ‘no child is left behind’.
Joanne is currently developing research in the fields of working memory and mathematics alongside Manchester University and the Coalition of Research Schools team. She has particular interests and expertise in the fields of Autism and specific learning difficulties.
